Workshops
Sharing creativity through workshopping is an important part of my artistic practise. Helping people build creative confidence, explore new techniques, connect with chosen themes and build community. I host one of workshops or as part of longer, more curated creative placemaking projects. I really enjoy participatory co-creating artworks and often encourage people to create together.
I have a few go-to mediums though I am continually diversifying my skill set and enjoy learning new techniques. I have chosen to share a few example workshops here:
Using tetra-pack (juice cartons) as a way to create relief prints, this printing technique is fun, accessible and tactile. I really enjoy using tetra pack printing as a drop-in workshop, whereby participants contribute an image to be printed multiple times on a collectively made print piece. I’ve used this technique at a number of events including The Stove Network’s off-the-margin festival where we collectively created a Dumfries town centre map.

Now running as annual, ticketed workshops. ‘Drawing in the Garden’ aims to inspire creative wellness and connection to beautiful garden spaces. Using foraged art materials handmade by Old Mill Arts, the workshop takes you through a set of prompts to energise your drawing style before giving you time to embed your senses in the garden-scapes. Each participant goes home with a sketchbook included in workshop price.

Using my own handmade bees wax crayon; people are asked explore their environment or connect with an object through wax crayon rubbings. The hope is they become more acquainted with their surroundings as they feel out the different textures and shapes. People are then encouraged to cut out their crayon rubbings and create a collaboratively made collage which reflects the workshop setting or theme.

A touring, collaboratively made zine using collage to explore food origin stories. Exploring the story of how the edible apple travelled from Kazakhstan to Britain, this touring zine workshop now collects other food origin stories and grows as it tours to food related events and gatherings.
