Event / Exhibition Curation

Creating interesting and meaningful experiences for people to come together around chosen themes. Building ‘atmospheric texture’ by taking into consideration how all the senses are activated to create immersive events.
Here are a few example events/exhibitions.

  • David Attenborough’s 100th birthday @ the Moniaive folk festival, 2026
    Included walk about theatre, party-hat making and DIY cinema.

  • The Vegetable Growers @ The Hidden Mill, 2024
    Local artist and makers exhibition on the theme of vegetable growing exhibited out of a functioning polytunnel.

  • The Land of Milk and Honey @ The Yellow Door, 2019
    Evolving art exhibition exploring themes of heaven and breakfast, alongside Fiona Marsh and Kirsty Turpie we spent two weeks ‘live’ painting and world building the gallery space. We hosted a boozy brunch and auction to raise money for this local community gallery space.

  • Queer Pop-Up Library @ The Midsteeple Quarter, 2017
    Weekend long events celebrating LGBTQ+ community in Dumfries, alongside poetry readings, local craft sale, zine making and and book swap / library.

Nithlight
Commissioned by The Stove Network 2019

Built in collaboration with sound artist Philip Mairs, this commission also included mentoring support from experienced artists, Stephen Pickering and John Wallace.

The brief was to create an after-dark spectacle for Dumfries’ annual river festival Nithraid. The theme of that year’s festival was salt and ritual. Celebrating the river’s history as a salt trading port, and exploring our own ritual making through the festival.
Landing on ‘Chaldni plates’ as our main focus. The phenomenon of sending sound vibrations through a metal plate creating symmetrical patterns with salt on top of the plate. We built our own chladni plate, which we brought on site with us during the event for people to experience. For the installation we created a film of the salty patterns morphing into one another, which we projected across a set of sails which replicating an old galleon ship. Alongside Philip’s soundscape with watery, salty, grainy sounds. We served salty oat biscuits and home brewed lemonade reminiscent of long sea journeys in the 1600’s.
